Emperors Best Voyageurs in Pitching Duel
|
The Beijing Emperors claimed a close win over the Oslo Voyageurs, due in large part to Yoshifusa Hasegawa. The Beijing right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. Tom Davis collected his 20th save. Beijing is 36-27 and Oslo, with the loss, 38-25.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Jaromir Cermaka came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Oslo pitcher Cosmo Laureano, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Beijing on top, 2-1.
"I was a little disappointed," said Oslo manager Marq Ualler. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
