El Paso starter Tien Dung Long clamped down on the Mexico City offense, while his team cruised to victory, 12-2. Long yielded 2 runs over 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 7-5. The Thunderbirds now have a record of 39-26 with the win over Mexico City.

Finlay Hewitt had a big 2-run home run for the Thunderbirds in the top of the sixth inning. With El Paso leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from former first round draft pick Demessie Yusuf and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Thunderbirds on top, 4-0.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Hewitt, "and then get after it again."
