Generals Get Past Oslo, 2-1
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at The Colosseum. Fortunately for the Rome Generals, though, Tutu Karim was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, to lead his team past the Oslo Voyageurs, 2-1. The winner in relief was Talal Yunus. He is now 2-3. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. The Generals improved their record to 38-27 with the win over Oslo.
The decisive blow was delivered by Li-ping Lum in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Cosmo Laureano to win the game for Rome. The home crowd went nuts.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Marq Ualler.
