Meteors Lose 4-3 Decision to Tokyo
|
The Tokyo Fitzies beat the Melbourne Meteors, 4-3, at Meteor Crater. Edgardo Román was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. The 2145 Rookie of the Year Award winner was a menace to Melbourne all day. Tokyo reliever Guo-feng Lee, who is tied for 8th in the IBL in wins with 6, was credited with the win. His record goes to 6-2. Cipriano Sánchez took the loss for Melbourne. Tokyo is now 30-36, Melbourne 33-33.
Tokyo used a clutch at-bat from Hwi-gon Park to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Fitzies ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"No disrespect to the other team," said Tokyo manager Meeks 17. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
