Emperors Raise Rally Flag, Beat Melbourne, 7-4
|
Beijing and Melbourne duked it out and the Emperors came out victorious.
Njoroge Sarahani was instrumental in his team's 7-4 triumph over the Melbourne Meteors. The center fielder was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Beijing Emperors. Beijing reliever Jasa Bogdanovic picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Mahmood Hashemi was saddled with the loss.
Martín Meloncelli, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2142 draft, took Melbourne hurler Yoichi Matsumoto deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Emperors on top, 7-4. In all, Meloncelli had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Melbourne manager Bob Meteors.
The 4th-place Meteors have lost 5 straight games.
