Big Day for Belmondo as Thunderbirds Down Coqui, 9-4
A 7-RBI performance from the former first round draft pick Gianpaolo Belmondo helped the El Paso Thunderbirds beat the Puerto Rico Coqui, 9-4. Mayne Rippon, who is tied for 2nd in the ABL in complete games with 2, was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts. The Thunderbirds now own a record of 35-37.

In the bottom of the fourth, El Paso catcher Jack Davis had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Davis stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 1-0, El Paso. For the game, he went 1-4.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Davis said.
