Thunderbirds Procure 5-2 Victory
|
The El Paso Thunderbirds knocked off the Puerto Rico Coqui, 5-2, in Americas Baseball League action at Ballpark of San Juan. El Paso pitcher and Dublin, Ireland, native Joe Madden had an outstanding performance. Getting the save was Gregor Finlater, his 20th. The second-place Thunderbirds now have a record of 39-35.
Tien Dung Long dealt the Coqui a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and El Paso leading 2-1, Long, who finished 4th in the ABL in doubles with 46 last year, hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single.
El Paso manager AP MP commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
