On Road, Beijing Beats Melbourne, 7-5
|
Beijing second baseman Gerhard Haar helped his team beat the Melbourne Meteors, 7-5. Haar went 1 for 3 for the Emperors. Yoshifusa Hasegawa, who finished 5th in the IBL in wins with 15 in 2148, was the winner. He's now 1-1. The loser was Keitaro Ito. Iván González earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
The Emperors got a big at-bat from left fielder Josh Bence. For the game, Bence went 1-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Beijing a 4-2 lead.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Beijing manager Kev In.
Melbourne is now 3-5.
