Done Deal: Jiménez for van der Laan Monday, January 19th , 2150 Proving the old adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure, the Beefs announced today the acquisition of 25-year old 2B Riemer van der Laan from the Nairobi Black Rhinos in exchange for 29-year old minor league LF Pedro Jiménez, 32-year old minor league 1B Abbas Karani, 21-year old minor league RHP Sung-joon Lee, and a 2nd round draft pick. "This isn't the deal of the century," acknowledged the Beefs, "but we think it will improve the direction of both teams." Lifetime Jiménez has connected for 115 home runs, hit .292 and driven in 507 runs. van der Laan has hit for a .272 career average and totaled 301 hits, 26 home runs and 104 RBIs. |
