Friday, July 17th , 2150
Naperville Pubcrawlers second baseman Sami Malik put on a dazzling display of power at Ballpark of Naperville against the Galveston Jubilee. In the 7-3 Pubcrawlers victory, Malik penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Galveston manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 21-year-old had 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Malik said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Sami Malik walked in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Tecle Hauli in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Tecle Hauli in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Olivier Gros in the 8th.
In 88 games Malik is hitting .234 this season with 71 hits, 8 home runs, 33 RBIs, 17 walks, .287 OBP and has scored 32 runs.
