Castillo Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Sunday, May 2nd, 2117 Ponce catcher Rafael Castillo went down swinging at Aztecs Ballpark today, knocking out 5 hits even as his Coqui fell, 8-7. "It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Castillo said after his 5-for-6 performance against the Leon Aztecs. "No offense meant to Leon, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well." After the game, his manager elaborated on the catcher's improvements, saying Castillo spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball. "That's what I'm trying to do," Castillo agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Rafael Castillo singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, doubled in the 8th and flied out in the 9th. So far this season Castillo is hitting .438 with 1 home run. |
