Peña Tosses 5-0 Shutout Wednesday, June 23rd , 2151 The Traverse City Cherries struggled at the plate against Coqui hurler Pedro Peña, who shackled them on 2 hits while hurling a complete-game 5-0 shutout. "What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Cherries skipper in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow." Peña finished the game with 5 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance. "He pitched real well," Ponce manager said. "Pedro made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively." This season, Peña has worked 81.1 innings with 75 strikeouts en route to a 3-6 record and a 4.54 ERA. |
