League Championship Series Goes the Distance, San Pedro Prevails
Sunday, September 21st , 2149
The stakes were high at Jaguars Ballpark tonight and the San Pedro Stone Faces stepped up when it counted.
Edging the Manaus Jaguars 3-2 to wrap up the League Championship Series, San Pedro won the clinching game by a 7-6 score.
"You've got to fight that doubt and that little part of you that says you can't do it or you're going to fail," said San Pedro right-hander Humayun Zahedi. "The possibility of failure is always in your mind, but you can't let it bring you down."
The failure of the Jaguars to advance was certainly weighing heavily on the team's manager.
"It's a crushing loss and a tough way to lose a series," said. "In the end there can only be one A World Series champion and we're just devastated it's not going to be us."
Zahedi's strong pitching earned him the nod as series MVP. He had a 0.00 ERA over 6 innings pitched. He added 5 strikeouts with a 2-0 record.
The San Pedro Stone Faces will play against the Eldoret Cape Buffalo in the next round. Eldoret won their series against the Multan Vultures 3 games to 1. The A World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
