Cherries Velasco ABL-A Hitter of the Week Monday, August 28th , 2147 Not every ball that came off José Velasco's bat last week was a line drive or a towering shot -- it just seemed that way to the teams that played the Traverse City Cherries. For his exploits, Velasco was named this week's Americas Baseball League Player of the Week award. The Traverse City shortstop put up 12 hits in 24 at-bats and 4 home runs while hitting .500 with 14 RBIs and 12 runs scored. To date this season Velasco is hitting .251 with 11 home runs. |
