ABL-A's #1 Player for 2147 Named
Tuesday, October 17th , 2147
At the age of 24, Raúl Rivera of the Traverse City Cherries could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2147 was good enough to win the center fielder the Americas Baseball League Position Player of the Year Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .318 batting average this year, as well as a .423 on-base percentage. He played 129 games and racked up 160 hits, 22 doubles, 3 triples, 15 home runs, 58 RBIs and 103 runs scored.
He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 20. Ángel Montalvo of the Traverse City Cherries finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Alberto Perales of the Manaus Jaguars finished third.
