Fleur-de-Lis Kono No-Hits Shogun
Friday, August 7th , 2150
It was a fantastic day for Nice Fleur-de-Lis starter Ryunosuke Kono and a lousy day for the Kumamoto Shogun.
The Nice hurler's pitching artistry completely befuddled and bewildered the Shogun, as the Fleur-de-Lis cruised to a 5-0 win. When it was all over, Kono was credited with one of the rarer feats in baseball -- a no-hitter.
"The ball was moving and darting, and best of all, going where I wanted it to go," Kono said later.
He rang up 15 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk while shutting Kumamoto down at Lightning Ballpark.
So far this year, Kono has made 13 starts, tossed 113 innings, struck out 99 batters and walked 40. His record is 3-6 with a 2.87 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .194 batting average.
