No Hits for Thornton, Streak Ends at 22 Wednesday, May 28th , 2149 All good things must come to an end -- and so it was today for Sam Thornton as he saw his 22-game hitting streak end. He went hitless in 5 at-bats at the hands of the Kisumu Cheetahs. It wasn't all bad for the 23-year-old third baseman and the Naples Naturals however, as they defeated Kisumu, 9-1, at Seahawks Field. When asked about his hitting streak, a smiling Thornton laughed and said, "I guess my luck ran out today." This year, Thornton has collected a .272 batting average to date with 47 hits in 173 at-bats, 38 RBIs, 5 home runs and scored 41 times. He has played in 44 games. |
