Delpino Spins Masterpiece, No-Hits Kisumu
Tuesday, June 3rd , 2149
The Lillehammer Loppet relied on no-hit stuff from starter Marco Delpino to defeat the Kisumu Cheetahs, 2-0, at Quezon Grounds.
"It's quite a thrill," Delpino told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Intercontinental Baseball League records, he stopped Kisumu cold and hitless, surrendering 6 walks and fanning 6 of the 32 batters he faced.
Lillehammer manager was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Delpino "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
Thus far this year, Delpino is hitting .295 with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs and 24 runs scored.
