Sunday, June 27th , 2151
La Romana Toros center fielder Yuda Purbacaraka had a day to remember at Estadio Santo Domingo, ripping apart the South Bend Leprechauns and sparking the 21-4 Toros win.
Purbacaraka wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-7.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Purbacaraka told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Yuda Purbacaraka hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
This season, Purbacaraka has delivered 94 hits in 307 at-bats for a .306 average with 11 home runs. He is getting on base at a .349 clip and his totals also include 52 RBIs and 46 runs scored. This year Purbacaraka has played in 75 games.
