Gunter Crafts 1-0 Shutout
Sunday, September 14th , 2149
Dave Gunter of the La Romana Toros was on top of his game.
The 26-year-old tantalized the Recife Jaguars with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 1-0.
"He had the changeup working," Recife manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The La Romana hurler had 6 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.
Gunter told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
This season, Gunter has compiled a 2-1 record with a 3.55 ERA in 5 starts.
