Zafer Belts 5 Hits Wednesday, August 30th , 2147 It was a sensational day at the plate for La Romana Toros first baseman Tayfun Zafer, but a tough one for the team, as the Toros dropped the contest 3-2 to the South Bend Leprechauns. Even with the loss, Zafer was pure misery for the South Bend pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-5 in an explosive display of hitting. "It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Zafer, who is the 19-year old first baseman . "Zafer really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Leprechauns manager told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Tayfun Zafer singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Thus far this year Zafer has hit .245 with 4 home runs and 28 RBIs. |
