Pitcher of the Month Named in IBL Saturday, June 1st , 2148 Jorge Garza of Tokyo had an award-winning May as he took home the Intercontinental Baseball League Pitcher of the Month award. "He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Garza's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in May except for Jorge." Garza was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 5-0 record in 6 starts. He struck out 30 batters in 40.1 innings and kept opponents to a .260 batting average. To date this season, Garza has registered 11 starts, 5-2 won-lost mark, 3.66 ERA, 66.1 IP, 48 strikeouts and 24 walks. Opposing teams have hit .277 against him. |
