Beefs Nudge Past Blue Gills, 1-0
|
Chicago Beefs starter Ethan Vergette turned in a sterling performance against the Detroit Blue Gills, leading his team to a slim, 1-0 win. The win gives Chicago a season record of 43-39.
Chicago used a timely hit from Bernard Salle to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Beefs ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"Some games build character," said Chicago manager Mikes L. Son. "Like this one."
