Aztecs Use Late Surge to Win
The Mexico City Aztecs defeated the Los Angeles Stars, 7-5, at Field of the Stars. Mexico City first baseman Alfonso Alfaro had a superb performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Kunz Kulhberg picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Su-shun Guang, who finished 5th in the IBL in ERA with 3.17 in 2149, was tagged with the loss. The Aztecs improved their record to 69-36 by beating Los Angeles.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Urtilan Cheromei came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Su-shun Guang, he hit a 2-2 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Mexico City on top, 6-5.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Alfaro told the Mexico City Chronicle.
