Thunderbirds Upend Aztecs, 4-3
|
The El Paso Thunderbirds picked up a win at Ballpark of Mexico City, knocking off the Mexico City Aztecs, 4-3. Starting pitcher Joe Madden was a big reason why. The Thunderbirds now own a record of 64-51.
El Paso used a timely hit from Maresuke Nishikawa to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
In postgame remarks, Nishikawa hailed his team's "mettle."
