Aztecs Handle Thunderbirds, Grab 2-1 Win
|
Daniel Jahnet was nothing short of phenomenal for the Mexico City Aztecs. The 35-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the El Paso Thunderbirds, 2-1. Jahnet got the win, improving to 11-7. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Picking up the save was former first round draft pick Hayato Tsuchida.
Sam Miller drove in one run for Mexico City. The 27-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Gregor Finlater. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"Daniel had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Mexico City manager Square Drive.
By defeating El Paso, the third-place Aztecs improved to 82-62.
