|
Mexico City starter Ricardo Sotelo put the Chicago offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Aztecs to a 4-1 win. The winning pitcher was Sotelo, now 6-2. He tossed 8 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. Carlos García notched his 13th save of the season.
Eisaku Koyama, who finished 2nd in the ABL in hits with 214 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Koyama contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put Mexico City up, 3-0.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Mexico City manager Square Drive.
The second-place Aztecs lifted their record to 25-20.
