Trung, Thunderbirds March to 6-4 Victory
|
Thunderbirds center fielder Thao Trung put his stamp on his team's 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Stars. Trung went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for El Paso in the contest. The winner in relief was Carlos García. He is now 3-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Picking up the save was former first round draft pick Gregor Finlater.
Trung had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a first pitch curveball from Roger Oldford, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Thunderbirds a 6-4 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Trung.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Trung.
The victory gives El Paso a record of 30-23.
