The Puerto Rico Coqui banked on Shih-k'ai Tseng and he turned in a masterful performance. The left-hander kept the Detroit hitters in check. The final score was 1-0, Coqui. Earning his 18th save for Puerto Rico was Chih-hsiung Chiang. The Coqui move to 27-36 with the win, while the Blue Gills drop to 22-41.

Puerto Rico starter Shih-k'ai Tseng pitched like a boss. The 6-foot-2 left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 8 innings.

"The old adage is true," said Tseng. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
