Aztecs Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Ballpark of Mexico City featured a tense pitchers' duel.
Mexico City turned a good performance from starting pitcher John Collier into a 2-1 triumph over the Sao Paulo Toucans at Ballpark of Mexico City. In 8 innings, Collier surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Ben Middleton finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Mexico City catcher Urtilan Cheromei contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 55th hit of the season and put the Aztecs ahead, 2-0.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Mexico City manager Square Drive.
Mexico City now sports a record of 42-27.
