The Puerto Rico Coqui started the Divisional Series in style today, winning on the road against the El Paso Thunderbirds at Thunderdome by a score of 11-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Coqui center fielder José Gómez excelled. He went 2-5 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.

Hideki Oka, the Puerto Rico left fielder, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to make the score 7-5, Coqui. For the game, Oka went 2-5 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2.

"We came out aggressive," said Coqui manager Kir By. "We came out swinging the bats."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thunderdome in El Paso.
