Host Jaguars Drop Pivotal Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2
|
Rio de Janeiro catcher Luther Schneider pounded El Paso Thunderbirds pitchers at Rio de Janeiro Grounds, but it was not enough to keep the Jaguars from falling, 5-4, in Game 5 of the League Championship Series. Schneider was 3-4 with a home run and a double, though he couldn't keep the Jaguars from slipping to a 3-2 deficit in the best-of-7 series.
António Ribadeneira dealt the Jaguars a blow in the top of the eighth. Batting with a runner on 3rd and El Paso leading 4-3, Ribadeneira, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2143 draft, hit a 2-1 cutter for a run-scoring single.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Thunderbirds manager AP MP said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 23rd , 2150 at Thunderdome in El Paso.
