Beefs Take Down Thunderbirds, 3-2
The Chicago Beefs earned a close win over the El Paso Thunderbirds, thanks in part to Patrick Widhoezl. The Chicago left-hander, who is tied for 9th in the ABL with a 3.39 ERA, played a key role in the 16-inning, 3-2 victory. Casey O'Finan, who finished 3rd in the IBL in wins with 15 in 2147, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 6-0. The first-place Beefs are 48-30.

Aniceto Palmeira came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the 16th inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Mikes L. Son.
