Andersen Cracks 5 Hits
Saturday, June 13th , 2150
Erik Andersen was at the head of a Tokyo Fitzies hit parade at Gitche Gumee Stadium. The 26-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Paris Fleur-de-Lis that marched off with the 11-6 win.
"We didn't have it today," griped Fitzies skipper Pedro Cerrano following the game. "Erik did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."
Andersen did more than fine, dominating the Fleur-de-Lis at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance.
"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging first baseman told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
Erik Andersen singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Andersen is hitting .341 for the season with 8 home runs, 37 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 72 hits in 211 at-bats and played in 57 games.
