Gonzáles Enters WBA Hall of Fame
Monday, November 17th , 2149
The World Baseball Association Hall of Fame just added a fine right fielder and hitter to its number. The newest member of baseball's most elite group is Ramón Gonzáles, who retired at the age of 38.
"I always knew I was good enough to play, but the Hall of Fame was one of the few things I never even dreamed of," said Gonzáles at his induction ceremony. "For me to focus a lot on the individual, that's not the way I learned to play the game. Baseball is a team game. You win as a team, you lose as team. You also do so many things together, but it is not an 'I' thing."
During his illustrious career, Gonzáles had 45 home runs among his 2615 hits, while batting .328. He played in 2124 games, scored 1219 runs and knocked in 835 runs.
