Granma Stops Gonzáles Hit Streak Saturday, August 15th , 2150 The streak has been snapped. António Gonzáles failed to get a hit in today's game against the Granma Alazanes, bringing his 27-game hitting spree to an end. The 26-year-old Gary second baseman was 0-for-4, but the Smokestacks got the win and defeated the Alazanes, 6-4. "I'm not disappointed at all -- I had a great run," Gonzáles said. "I got to 27 games. I got my name into an elite group with a bunch of good ballplayers. What's there to complain about?" Posting a .306 batting average to date, Gonzáles has 8 home runs and 44 RBIs. |
