Huerta Pitches Rodeo to 3-0 Win Sunday, August 7th , 2146 Félix Huerta of the Houston Rodeo was on top of his game today. The 34-year-old tantalized the Bayamon Coqui with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 3-0 shutout. "He had the changeup working," Bayamon manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The Houston hurler had 6 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 8 hits in his complete-game effort. Huerta told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league." "If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said. His record this season is 12-6 in 23 starts and Huerta has a 2.27 ERA. |
