Xiu Gets 5 Hits Friday, August 11th , 2147 Even as a kid, Wu-sheng Xiu said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Gary today, Xiu showed how well he learned that lesson. The 36-year-old left fielder had 5 hits in 9 at-bats for the Gary Smokestacks, helping his team knock off the Santiago Caballeros by a score of 4-3. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Wu-sheng Xiu singled in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, grounded out in the 10th, flied out in the 13th, struck out in the 16th, doubled in the 18th and singled in the 20th. So far this season Xiu has no home runs and a .329 batting average. |
