League Championship Series Goes the Distance, Shanghai Prevails Monday, September 23rd , 2148 The Shanghai Emperors are heading to the AAA World Series, having narrowly defeated the Mombasa Chameleons. Shanghai edged Mombasa in the series 3-2, with a win at Glasgow Ballpark in the clinching game by a 4-1 margin. Asfour bin Nawfal turned in a strong offensive performance for the Emperors and got series MVP for his efforts. "I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a AAA World Series win." It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if bin Nawfal continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance. For the series, he hit .450 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Shanghai Emperors will play against the Belo Horizonte Jaguars in the next round. Belo Horizonte won their series against the Houston Rodeo 3 games to 1. The AAA World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes. |
