Torres Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Friday, May 24th , 2148 It was a great day at the plate for Jesús Torres. For his Pinar Del Rio Vegueros, the day was not nearly as good. The first baseman collected 5 hits in 7 tries, but his club still came up short in the win column. The Puerto Plata Taimascaros snatched the victory, topping the Vegueros by a score of 12-11. "Well that wasn't how it was supposed to end," Torres said later. "I'll just have to do it again and get it right." Jesús Torres singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, struck out in the 10th and singled in the 13th. So far this year, Torres has hit .281 with 6 home runs, 23 RBIs and 17 runs scored. |
