He was almost untouchable, twirling a 3-hitter with 7 strikeouts and 4 walks. "I'm sweating now because it's hot in here," Gómez said in the clubhouse after the game. "But it didn't even feel like I was sweating out there." Gómez has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 5-9 record with a 2.47 ERA.
