Trondheim Snaps Maatianen Streak at 20 Thursday, July 23rd , 2150 It just wasn't Jere Maatianen's day. The Milan Marauders grabbed the 4-2 win over the Trondheim Scholars, but the Scholars mound staff did what nobody else could -- they stopped the 20-game hitting streak of Marauders right fielder Jere Maatianen. "We might have focused a bit too much on stopping Maatianen," Trondheim manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Marauders have other hitters and they did their job today." On the season, Maatianen is batting .317 with 12 home runs and 60 RBIs. He has played in 78 games. |
