Virk Cracks 5 Hits Wednesday, August 23rd, 2130 Maroof Virk was sizzling at the plate today. The Pinar Del Rio center fielder blistered the Tacoma Emeralds for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but couldn't prevent his club from falling to a 6-2 defeat. "Virk was too tough to get out today," Emeralds skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too. But hey, I don't mind if every game somebody gets 5 hits off us, as long as we win." Maroof Virk singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Virk is presently hitting at a .343 pace with 10 home runs and 67 RBIs. He has played in 116 games and scored 75 times. |
