ABL-AA Names Best Player Monday, May 21st, 2131 So far in his young career, José Martínez has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Americas Baseball League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 23-year-old Porto Alegre Toucans right fielder hit at a torrid .478 clip as he collected 11 hits in 23 at-bats, 2 home runs, 13 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Thus far this season Martínez is hitting .331 with 8 home runs, 39 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has 47 hits in 142 at-bats and has played in 38 games. |
