Topping Batters Belem Big Time Wednesday, May 21st , 2149 Finney Topping was at the head of a Porto Alegre hit parade at Foxes Ballpark. The center fielder went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Toucans to a nice 18-5 victory over the Belem Jaguars. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Topping told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Jaguars skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Finney Topping struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th. This season, Topping is batting .242 with 6 home runs. He has scored 31 runs and driven in 19. |
