Hits Galore: Redinho Drills 5 Hits Friday, May 18th, 2125 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Lopes Redinho, it came around today. The 22-year-old third baseman scattered hits all over Jaguars Stadium to pace the Belem Jaguars to a 52-1 victory over the Carolina Coqui. Carolina skipper told reporters in the press room that "Redinho deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Redinho hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Lopes Redinho was hit by a pitch in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, walked in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and walked in the 8th. In this current campaign Redinho is hitting at a .262 clip with 4 home runs and 17 RBIs. |
