Samurakami Cruises to Shutout
Wednesday, July 1st , 2139
Before the game, Shinji Samurakami said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Aberden Ballpark, the Ospreys pitcher whitewashed the Chongqing Emperors 4-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Samurakami said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my fastball even when I was behind in the count."
The Gujranwala starter held Chongqing scoreless, giving up 4 hits while registering 9 strikeouts and issuing no walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Emperors manager said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
Samurakami has gone 4-4 this season with an ERA of 3.88 and 65 strikeouts in 65 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .231 against him.
