Canberra Takes League Championship Series in Deciding Game Sunday, September 21st , 2132 WBA Double A fans were certainly not disappointed with this Intercontinental Baseball League League Championship Series. The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Canberra Comets prevailing over the Toulouse Fleur-de-Lis to advance to the AA World Series. Canberra won the final game by a score of 4-1 at The Homestead and that sealed the series 3-2. "Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said first baseman Donato Gatlinaro, who earned MVP honors. For the series, Gatlinaro hit .381 with a .381 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Canberra Comets will play against the Belem Jaguars in the next round. Belem won their series against the Scottsdale Pubcrawlers 3 games to 0. The AA World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes. |
